in some sense it's all play,
the fact that anyone can take a gun and just kill someone nullifies any fighting skill, so why fight? it's not about actually trying to fight someone and make them- it's about the game, the play.
so either love prevents them, or more cynically, law and self preservation (not wanting to get shaved/outed for murder in society) prevent them. maybe both ..perhaps true egocentricity and communion with others collapses to the same thing- that is to say, what is actually good for me personally is the same as what is good for all.

We are all narcissists’ one way or another, no matter how you look at it. We do things in order to maximize our own wellbeing and happiness. Even if you derive your happiness from helping others or someone else’s happiness, you still do it because you take pleasure in seeing other people’s happiness.
