Ive realized that the way videos like Big Think are structured…its constructed such that the speaker in the video is talking down to you, as if he is some sort of authority figure. As in, look at him, he’s on Big Think, he’s got 500K subscribers listening to him, hundreds of thousands of views, he MUST be an authority on the subject matter and what he says must be true.
But in reality, its just two people having a conversations. It should be treated such that both people, the speaker and listener are equals. No complex. You are not an authority, you’re merely giving your opinion, and the platform that you’re given doesn’t render it more accurate or significant than mine, as that is a fallacy.
