like how austin does it in a sense. no grid...chords come in and out in their own meter (this is its own separate essay)
so in ambient music etc this is an amazing framework

but imagine applying this to more supposdely rigid like structures - like when i recorded that rick toone existential guitar riff. (upload here), it was a rigid motif but i didnt use a metronome, but it is PERFECT.
